What to Expect
Colon hydrotherapy is the therapeutic introduction of water into the colon for the purpose of removing encrusted fecal matter, gas and mucus and improving tone. Cleansing the colon allows vital nutrients to be absorbed more easily and leaves you feeling rejuvenated and healthier. One of the main goals of colon hydrotherapy is to assist in cultivating a balanced bacterial environment in the gut. Having well balanced micro-biome in the gut is essential to a strong immune system and overall health. Colonics help to tone & reshape the colon, reduce gas and bloat, improve lymph drainage and help promote the gut-brain connection.
A Colon hydrotherapy session involves the safe, gentle infusion of temperature regulated water into the colon via the rectum. No chemicals or drugs are involved and the entire therapy is both relaxing and effective. A healthy well-functioning bowel is essential for the maintenance of optimal health and immunity. When the blood stream is overloaded with toxic waste, the body will function at a lower level. Our health is our responsibility, and now more than ever, we need to support our body in regular detox practices to maintain good health.
What happens during a Colon Hydrotherapy session ?
Once your nurse goes over your initial intake with you, she will give you time to change into a gown and you will lay comfortably on the treatment table in our spa-like treatment room. To begin the treatment, a small single use speculum is gently inserted into the rectum and warm filtered water is slowly introduced into the colon. The temperature and pressure of this water is maintained and altered by the nurse/colon hydrotherapist. As the water volume increases in the colon it will stimulate an action called peristalsis; the rhythmic movement of the digestive tract. Your therapist may use pressure points or a massager on the abdomen to aid in dislodging waste from the walls of the colon. The waste and water is then carried out of the body through a small out flow hose attached to the speculum. The process takes about 30-45 minutes and the environment is both professional and tranquil. Everything is contained in our closed-system colon hydrotherapy device, so you don't need to worry about odour throughout your session. After the treatment time on the table, the therapist will remove the speculum and step out of the room so that you can sit on the toilet to eliminate any excess stool and water before leaving.
If you are new to colonics (or a returning patient that has not had treatments for a while) it is recommended to complete a series of 3 treatments within a timeframe of 2 to 3 weeks. This is because the colon has 3 sections and ranges from 5-7 feet in length. Each treatment will build on the one prior to thoroughly hydrate and evacuate the colon. Once this initial series of 3 has been completed you and your therapist can discuss your future treatment plans based on your individual needs and results.
Please book in as 3 individual sessions (within the 2-3 week time frame) when you come in for your first session you will have the option to change this to a prepaid package for a greater savings ($65).
